Hudson Group has signed an agreement to acquire assets related to the operation of U.S. airport-located Brookstone stores from Chino, Calif.-based Apex Digital Inc.
The East Rutherford firm also obtained the right to be the exclusive airport retailer of Brookstone stores through an agreement with New York-based brand management firm Bluestar Alliance LLC.
The agreement covers 34 airport stores, including 33 stores in airports where Hudson is already operating. Thirty of the stores are currently open.
“The addition of Brookstone to our already diverse portfolio of branded concepts further strengthens our retail offering and nicely complements our travel convenience business,” said Roger Fordyce, Hudson Group chief executive officer, in a statement. “We are pleased Bluestar has entrusted Hudson to grow Brookstone’s brand across U.S. airports, which underscores our strong reputation of successfully operating branded and specialty stores in the highly-regulated travel retail environment.”
Hudson is one of the largest travel retailers in North America, anchored by its Hudson, Hudson News and Hudson Bookseller brands. It also operates more than 1,000 duty-paid and duty-free stores in 89 locations across airports, commuter terminals, hotels and tourist destinations worldwide.
