Patients in the Jersey Shore region will be able to get cancer treatment through Hackensack Meridian Health’s John Theurer Cancer Center thanks to a new affiliation in Toms River.
As part of the partnership, JTCC physicians will be based out of the existing Toms River Regional Cancer Center at 40 Bey Lea Road, meaning patients could get their treatment there in South Jersey.
The Regional Cancer Care Associates site, which is part of more than 20 in the Mid-Atlantic region, will continue to operate independently.
HMH said the new arrangement will be a huge boost for area residents, especially those referred by the Jersey Shore Medical Center in nearby Neptune. Patients can access care “close to home” and not have to drive the distance to the JTCC at Hackensack University Medical Center in its namesake city, a roughly 90-minute drive.

“The affiliation with the John Theurer Cancer Center will give patients in the Toms River area access to subspecialized care and research,” said Dr. Andre Goy, who heads the JTCC.
The new partnership means RCCA would have access to the center’s patient care expertise, treatments and clinical trials all surrounding cancer.
Whether a patient needs a second opinion consultation, or is a candidate for immunotherapy or targeted therapy, that patient can directly benefit from some of the world’s leading experts in cancer care and research, expertise that is now available locally as well as statewide,” said RCCA partner Kenneth Nahum.
