Jefferson Health’s Outpatient Medical Imaging Center, located at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center – Washington Township in Sewell, announced on Wednesday it is now offering a more comfortable mammography system, GE Healthcare’s Senographe Pristina with next-generation 3D digital mammography technology.
This state-of-the-art system offers patients a faster and quieter exam, with greater comfort and less pain during compression.
“This new system will help dismiss any preconceived fears women have about mammography, and hopefully encourage more compliance with annual screening,” said Dr. Kahyun Yoon-Flannery, medical director of the Jefferson Health Comprehensive Breast Center.
According to GE Healthcare, Senographe Pristina was designed to revolutionize the patient experience for mammography, by making it more comfortable and ensuring proper positioning, which can enhance scan quality.
Design enhancements on the system include gentle, rounded corners of the image detector to help reduce patient discomfort under the arms and comfortable armrests which replace conventional handgrips, allowing patients to gently support their arm, and helping to ensure proper positioning for a high-quality scan. By improving patient comfort, technologists can focus on providing the highest quality exam for the radiologist to interpret.
