Diversity is a key part to what makes Jersey, well, Jersey. Everyone here knows how much diversity the state has to offer. So having seven companies from the Garden State nationally recognized by DiversityInc in their 2014 Top 50 Companies for Diversity doesn’t come as a surprise.Novartis (East Hanover) tops the list, followed by Prudential Financial (Newark) at No. 8 and Johnson & Johnson (New Brunswick) at No. 9.
Merck (Whitehouse Station) came in at No. 14, while ADP (Roseland) was No. 24. BASF (Florham Park) was No. 26 and Wyndham Worldwide (Parsippany) was No. 39.
“We are extremely honored to be recognized by DiversityInc,” Novartis President Andre Wyss said in a statement. “We have worked hard to make diversity and inclusion a very natural part of the way we do business because we fundamentally believe it drives innovation, moves our business and our people forward, and most importantly—directly impacts our ability to develop lifesaving products and solutions.
“We are proud of the progress we have made and this achievement inspires us to continue this important effort,” said Wyss.
The rankings were determined by an objective methodology that calculates factors such as Talent Pipeline, Equitable Talent Development (including commitments to mentorship and philanthropy), CEO/Leadership Commitment and Supplier Diversity.
The empirical data for the rankings is provided by a 300-question survey filled out by personnel at the participating companies. Survey participation is free to any company with at least 1,000 US workers.
DiversityInc announced the results Tuesday night at an awards ceremony in New York City.
