Manasquan-based Jersey Mike’s Subs raised a record-breaking amount for charity in March as part of its 13th annual “Month of Giving” campaign.

This year, the fast casual sandwich chain’s locations across the country joined forces to collect $21 million on behalf of more than 200 nonprofit organizations, such as food banks and hospitals.

Besides accepting donations, Jersey Mike’s 2,500 participating restaurants across the country donated 100% of sales and profits from its March 29 Day of Giving initiative to the partner charities.

In New Jersey, 125 stores teamed up to raise $1.26 million for The Valerie Fund, a nonprofit in Maplewood that provides support for the comprehensive health care of children with cancer and blood disorders. A Jersey Mike’s location in Newburgh, N.Y., also donated $8,551 to the nonprofit.

In addition, the New Brunswick Jersey Mike’s shop collected $8,511 to benefit the Rutgers University Dance Marathon, while locations in Hamilton and Delran donated $15,880 to support Ryan’s Quest, a Hamilton charity working to raise awareness of Duchenne muscular dystrophy and fundraising for research.

Following this year’s campaign, the Month of Giving effort has raised more than $88 million since its 2011 launch. In 2022, the initiative collected $20 million.

In a statement, Caroline Jones, senior vice president of Jersey Mike’s and daughter of founder Peter Cancro, said, “We were humbled to see how our customers came out in droves to support their local charities on Day of Giving. Day of Giving is our busiest day, and we look forward to it all year. Thank you to our customers, franchise owners, team members and charity partners for making a difference!”
