KDC Solar finished building a solar carport installment at CentraState Healthcare System in Freehold Township, allowing CentraState to generate 61 percent of its energy consumption and achieve savings of about $500,000 in energy costs each year.
This is in combination with a solar farm at the CentraState property that KDC Solar previously built.
Bedminster-based KDC Solar installed solar carports with no capital costs to CentraState. KDC Solar says it features 8,376 photovoltaic panels on the carports that will produce and deliver about 5 million kilowatt-hours per year to CentraState and will offset 3,946 tons of carbon dioxide annually.
The not-for-profit, community-based health system, CentraState says the combined solar ground-mounted system and new carport solar system make it the largest solar-powered hospital in New Jersey. In addition to generating solar energy, the carports provide shade and weather protection as well as enhanced lighting for patients, visitors and employees.
