Kohl's to open two stores in New Jersey

Once the Ocean and Newton stores open, KohlÂs will operate 38 locations in the state.Wisconsin retailer KohlÂs Department Stores will not be playing any April FoolÂs pranks when it opens two new stores in New Jersey on Wednesday. KohlÂs spokeswoman Sydney Hofer said the stores, in Newton and Ocean townships, each measure 89,000 square feet, and each created some 150 jobs in their respective communities.

Once the Ocean and Newton stores open, KohlÂs will operate 38 locations in the state.

The store in Newton, at 11 North Park Drive, is a standalone location, Hofer said, while the Ocean store, at 1503 Route 35, is located in the Middlebrook Shopping Center. The stores were designed to operate in an environmentally friendly manner, using, in part, recycled building materials, occupancy sensors to control lighting in offices and stock rooms, and high-efficiency heating and ventilation systems.

The local openings are part of KohlÂs plan to open 19 stores across country this spring.

Hofer said the company plans to open some 36 stores across country in the fall, but would not disclose where the forthcoming stores will be located.
