Connell Foley, one of New Jersey’s largest law firms, is moving its headquarters to a new location in Roseland, it announced Monday.
The firm said in a news release it has leased 71,000 square feet on the first and second floors of the 56 at Roseland office building, located at 56 Livingston Ave.
“Connell Foley’s decision to relocate their headquarters after 30 years to 56 at Roseland reinforces the creation of an elite environment for the region’s top professional firms,” Michael Seeve, president of Woodland Park-based Mountain Development Corp., the building’s co-owner, said in a prepared statement. “We are honored to have been chosen by their firm and by Lowenstein Sandler. Our world-class professional amenities are designed toward supporting their operations and personnel in a manner unmatched in the market.”
Connell Foley, which is currently located elsewhere in Roseland, said it plans to move into the new space in late spring 2017.
“Our previous location served as the foundation for the growth of our firm,” Philip F. McGovern Jr., the firm’s managing partner, said in a statement. “In continuing to build our platform for the future, we were attracted to 56 at Roseland as it is a tremendous fit from the standpoint of location, building amenities, services and technological capability.”
The building, owned by MDC and New York-based Square Mile Capital Management LLC, is also home to insurance firm Brown & Brown and the future home of law firm Lowenstein Sandler LLP.
“This lease transaction announced today demonstrates 56 at Roseland’s standing as one of northern New Jersey’s premier professional office settings,” Matthew Drummond, principal with Square Mile, said in a statement. “Our venture has modernized and repositioned this irreplaceable asset to serve the top end of the market, and we’re pleased to welcome Connell Foley to its new headquarters.”
Lowenstein Sandler, meanwhile, has signed for 170,000 square feet at the property, and that space is currently under construction with a 2017 move-in date, according to the release.
“Our firm is excited to be joined by our colleagues from the Connell Foley firm at 56 at Livingston,” Gary Wingens, Lowenstein Sandler’s managing partner, said in a statement. “The building offers first-class amenities, such as a new, high-end gym and dining and catering facilities designed for professional service firms. Our people can’t wait for the move in 2017.”
Both Connell Foley and Lowenstein Sandler are among the state’s Top 10 largest law firms, according to NJBIZ Lists. Brown & Brown is the state’s largest insurance brokerage.
The architecture firm Gensler’s Morristown office is designing Connell Foley’s new space, while a New York firm, Marner & Associates, is designing Lowenstein Sandler’s offices. Newmark Grubb Knight Frank is the property’s exclusive leasing agent.
