Around the State – North JerseyUNION CITY Workers who have to cross the Hudson have another alternative to driving. Last Saturday NJ Transit started train service from the new Bergenline Avenue Station in Union City and another new station at Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen. The Tonnelle Avenue Station is part of a new 730-space park-and-ride facility just off Routes 1 and 9 and offers riders a four-minute trip to the Port Imperial Ferry Terminal. From Tonnelle Avenue, riders can also access the entire Hudson waterfront and the PATH Trains. Saturday also marks the start of train service seven days a week to the Port Imperial Station that opened in late October.
