Starting in September, over 40 cities nationally, including in New Jersey, will award Lyft ride grants to nonprofits to bridge transportation gaps for individuals and families as part of the company’s Wheels for All Grants program.
Wheels for All Grants was developed in 2018 to support nonprofits in their focus on building connected, equitable communities.
Nonprofits like Vet’s Chat Inc. in Fort Lee and Trenton Area Soup Kitchen have received grants from the program before to ease transportation barriers.
“We’re proud to be able to offer this opportunity to nonprofit organizations who are already making a positive impact on communities in the New Jersey area,” said New Jersey Market Manager Eric Plummer in a statement. “There’s a lot of great work being done, and Lyft is grateful to provide an opportunity for organizations who want to take their meaningful efforts even further.”
Grant recipients will be determined by a local committee of Lyft employees and representatives from the Driver Advisory Council, a nationwide group of drivers who serve as a link between Lyft and the driver community.
Any New Jersey 501(c)3 nonprofit will be eligible to apply . Grants will be awarded on a quarterly basis.
