Move over, Amazon. Starting Oct. 1, Macy’s will offer free same-day delivery in 30 markets nationwide, including all of New Jersey.
The service will be available for orders of $75 or more placed on Macys.com. Items eligible for same day delivery are filtered through the customer’s zip code and display a “Free Same Day Delivery” icon.
This move marks a relaunch of the department store chain’s same-day delivery program, which began in 2014. After the free pilot is over on a not-yet-determined date, same-day delivery will cost $8. Macy’s is the first department to offer the program without requiring a membership fee.
“Over the last two years, we have made significant investments in new technology in our stores and on our website that have given us the ability to better serve our customer’s needs wherever, whenever and however they want to shop with us,” said Jill Ramsey, Macy’s chief product and digital revenue officer in a statement.
Orders placed before 12 p.m. local time Monday through Saturday and before 10 a.m. Sunday will receive items the same day. Orders placed after cut-off times will be delivered the following day.
