The former deputy secretary for the environment under New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has joined Matrix New World Engineering as vice president.
In her role with the New York State Office of the Governor, Venetia Lannon oversaw all of the state’s environmental agencies, including the Department of Environmental Conservation, Office of Parks Recreation & Historic Preservation, Environmental Facilities Corporation, Hudson River Park Trust, and the Adirondack Park Agency.
Jayne Warne, president of Matrix, said in a release that Lannon will help to further business development and expand the Florham Park-based company’s role “in major infrastructure projects and will lead a renewed … focus upon climate change resiliency.”
Lannon has also served as regional director of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and as senior vice president of the New York City Economic Development Corp.
“Matrix’s environmental, infrastructure, and overall engineering knowledge is unsurpassed, and I feel that my experience in the areas of environmental protection and resiliency, especially in New York State, will complement Matrix’s long-term strategic plans,” Lannon, who will be based in the firm’s New York City office, said in a prepared statement.
