McCarter & English opens Trenton office; updates website and logo

Newark law firm McCarter & English opened an office in Trenton to support its government affairs practice.

Guillermo Artiles, who runs McCarter’s government affairs practice, manages the office. He is a former member of Gov. Phil Murphy’s legal team. He is joined by former federal prosecutor and McCarter Partner Robert Mintz and Omar Bareentto, a McCarter associate and former Governor’s Fellow from Rutgers University’s Eagleton Institute of Politics.

“Having a stronger presence on State Street puts us right where our clients need us, especially those in emerging industries such as renewable energy, cannabis, cybersecurity, cryptocurrency, blockchain, and other fintech,” Artiles said in a statement. “We are uniquely positioned to provide regulatory and strategic counseling across the full range of industries that make up McCarter’s robust client base, including banking, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, and health care.”

Locating the office at 162 W. State St. will also increase the firm’s accessibility to lawmakers and clients.

Announced alongside the new office is McCarter’s brand identity transformation, with an updated logo and website.

“McCarter has continued to evolve as a leader in the industry, adding new offices and practices that serve clients nationwide in exciting, cutting-edge practices,” said Managing Partner Joe Boccassini in a statement. “The rebranding reflects the modern and vibrant firm we are today with a nod to our heritage and our firm’s history of innovation. The logo symbolizes our progressive approach in delivering sophisticated legal services to our clients.”

According to firmwide chair Joseph Lubertazzi Jr., who was elected in October, the new branding represents only a portion of the evolution of the firm, which had its fourth consecutive year of record economic performance in fiscal year 2019.

“Our leadership team continues to be strong and has never been so diverse, all of which will help the firm stay agile and responsive to our clients’ needs,” Lubertazzi said in a statement. “As we approach our 175th anniversary, I am proud to work with the talented lawyers and staff who make up this firm, and will continue to drive its success.”
