Medical writing company purchases Ohio-based peer

A Princeton-based drug consulting company’s regulatory and medical writing unit has acquired an Ohio-based medical writing firm, it announced Tuesday.Synchrogenix, which just opened an office in Bloomfield, is buying ClinGenuity, a Cincinnati-based company that offers the only artificial intelligence-assisted medical writing service in the pharmaceutical industry, it said in a news release.

Synchrogenix is a unit of Certara, a biosimulation technology-enabled drug development and safety consulting firm.

“Large pharma and biotech companies are increasingly looking to outsource their regulatory and medical writing requirements,” Certara CEO Dr. Edmundo Muniz said in a prepared statement. “With the addition of ClinGenuity’s technology-enabled solution and experienced medical writers to our Synchrogenix team, we will be able to enhance process efficiencies and increase the offerings we can deliver to our clients.”

The combined company will include more than 200 regulatory and medical writers with expertise in document development for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, European Medicines Agency and other regulatory bodies, it added.

“With the addition of ClinGenuity’s automated redaction management capability to our existing transparency services, which include registration, disclosure documentation and clinical lay summary development, we can enable our clients to meet global transparency requirements efficiently,” Synchrogenix CEO Kelley Kendle said in a statement.

ClinGenuity founder and CEO Keith Kleeman will become president of Synchrogenix, the company said.
