Resilience Lab, a New York City-based mental health provider with several therapists located in New Jersey, recently announced it joined Horizon Healthcare Services Inc.’s commercial network.
Newark-based Horizon is the largest and oldest health insurance company in the state.
According to Resilience Lab, the move expands its Northeast footprint to 50% of the commercial market in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.
“Resilience Lab’s agreement with Horizon is an important step forward in meeting the needs of patients and expanding the availability of high quality, accessible and diverse mental healthcare,” Stephen O’Beirne, vice president, Payer and Enterprise at Resilience Lab, said in a statement. “We are constantly looking to expand in-network services, as patients often have difficulty affording mental healthcare without insurance coverage.”
The company added that the move was made to address the growing need for in-network care as well as the concern that many health care providers don’t accept insurance.
Citing health policy research firm KFF, Resilience Lab said only 72.7% of New Jersey’s mental health care needs are being met.
“Expanding our services in New Jersey aligns with our ultimate goal of growing our clinician base across the country to ease the mental health burden in the US,” added Resilience Lab co-founder and CEO Marc Goldberg.
