Middlesex Water is selling off its wastewater treatment operations in Delaware for $6.4 million, the company announced on Aug. 30.
Under the deal, Artesian Wastewater Management, a subsidiary of Artesian Resources Corp., will take ownership of the Delaware operations, pending regulatory approval, later this year on Dec. 31.
Artesian will buy all stock of the utility, called Tidewater Environmental Services, which handles wastewater for 3,600 customers in Sussex County, Delaware.
The deal would still need an OK from the Delaware Public Service Commission. Once completed, Middlesex Water would still retain ownership of its other Delaware properties, including its water utility business.
