Environmental attorney David Miller returned to Giordano, Halleran & Ciesla in Red Bank as a shareholder on Monday.
Miller served as an associate at Giordano in 2015 and 2016 before taking other private and public positions.
He rejoins the firm from Gibbons PC in Newark. Previously, he served as senior counsel in the Office of Gov. Phil Murphy, overseeing environmental and energy issues and initiatives.
At Giordano, Miller will counsel clients on the Industrial Site Recovery Act, Site Remediation Reform Act, Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act, due diligence, participation in potentially responsible party groups and interaction with the Environmental Protection Agency on Superfund matters.
He will also counsel clients on the procurement of environmental permits from state and federal agencies for major commercial and industrial development, transaction-triggered environmental laws and voluntary brownfields remediation programs.
