Since the 2018 U.S. Supreme Court decision lifting a near-nationwide ban on sports betting, New Jersey repeatedly came out ahead as a national leader. With a robust gambling framework already in Atlantic City, the state consistently beat the numbers coming out of Las Vegas – from the total wagers placed, to casino revenue, to tax collections. But when New York legalized online and mobile sports betting, the Empire State quickly set a new standard.
