Atlantic Health System’s Morristown Medical Center was named to NurseJournal’s list of The Best Hospitals for Nurses 2021 on Aug. 26, for offering a good environment for hospital nurses.

Morristown Medical Center nabbed the No. 3 spot on the list, and was the only New Jersey hospital to make the cut.

NurseJournal highlighted the “shared governance style of decision-making, which gives more responsibility to bedside nurses,” in place across Atlantic Health System medical centers.

“Nurses across all of Atlantic Health System come to work every day committed to providing extraordinary care and exceptional patient outcomes,” said Trish O’Keefe, senior vice president and chief nurse executive at Atlantic Health System and president of Morristown Medical Center. “This tremendous honor is an acknowledgment of our commitment to empowering and developing all of our nurses so they can perform at their very best, in a supportive and nurturing environment.”

The list is based on hospital ratings, mortality measures, nursing communication, and staff responsiveness.

According to NurseJournal’s website, “All hospitals are not the same. Those with strong health care teams, positive patient outcomes, effective lines of communication, and innovative nursing policies can improve your job satisfaction and open the door to professional development.”
