For the fourth year, Business Insider has produced its “50 Most Expensive Private High Schools in America” and “50 Most Expensive Boarding Schools in America” lists, and New Jersey is well-represented on both.The Lawrenceville School has held its No. 1 rank on the “50 Most Expensive Private High Schools in America” list for the second straight year.
At The Lawrenceville School, 246 daytime-only students currently attend, each paying tuition of $46,989.
The Lawrenceville School also ranked No. 12 the “50 Most Expensive Boarding Schools in America” list, with 550 boarding students paying rates of $56,620.
But according to The Lawrenceville School’s website, the actual cost of attendance can reach upwards of $70,000 when factoring in study abroad trips, sustainable dining services and its seminar-style Harkness teaching.
Peddie School in Hightstown — also a boarding school — ranked No. 14 on the “50 Most Expensive Private High Schools in America” list, with daytime-only students paying tuition of $43,500.
And The Pingry School in Basking Ridge ranked No. 31, with daytime students paying tuition of $42,498.
Two other New Jersey boarding schools — Purnell School in Pottersville ($51,700) and Blair Academy in Blairstown ($54,375) — made this year’s “50 Most Expensive Boarding Schools in America” list, ranking at No. 11 and No. 32, respectively.
