The name may not ring a bell, but information technology company Collabera employs more people in the state than many of the more recognizable companies stationed here.
Collabera has an astounding 4,200 employees on its New Jersey roster. The IT staffing and solutions firm has its North American headquarters in Morristown, but also has more than 40 offices worldwide.
Although the company opened for business back in 1991, it has grown significantly since it was bought in 1997 for $2 million by the firm’s current CEO and chairman, Hiten Patel. Under his leadership, Collabera — which changed its name from GCI in 2008 — made a series of acquisitions of companies in places such as India and Asia.
Collabera posted $440 million in revenue last year and has been named the largest minority-owned IT staffing firm in the country.
