Biz BriefsNJ Transit got a new executive director last week. Richard R. Sarles Sr., 62, had previously been the agencyÂs assistant executive director for capital programs and planning. He will replace George Warrington, the man he followed to NJ Transit from Amtrak five years ago.
Sarles managed the agencyÂs $1.3 billion annual capital program as well as all three light-rail operations in the state. He opened the River Line light-rail service in southern New Jersey, and oversaw the extensions of the Newark Light Rail and Hudson-Bergen Light Rail systems. Sarles said he will work Âintensely on what customers need and want from our service. He added: ÂToday, transit is a good option. I will work with the governor, the board and employees to make it the preferred choice for travel in New Jersey.Â
