New Jersey adds 7,200 private-sector jobs in June, ADP says

New Jersey gained 7,200 private-sector jobs in June, according to the latest monthly report from ADP. That was a distinct improvement over both the May figure of 4,400 jobs gained and the April number, 2,500 jobs added.The Roseland-based payroll and human resources company said in a news release Wednesday that the Garden State’s services sector added 7,800 jobs, while the goods-producing sector lost 600 for the month.

Among industries, trade, transportation and utilities led the way, with 1,300 jobs gained. Professional and business services also registered a bump up, adding 900 positions. Conversely, manufacturing lost 500 jobs and natural resources/mining and construction lost 100 for the month.

New Jersey’s job growth rate of 0.21 of a percent compared favorably with neighboring New York’s gain of 0.14 of a percent and Pennsylvania’s growth rate of 0.12 of a percent.
