New Jersey American Water said Feb. 24 it will invest $1.1 million to replace approximately 3,950 feet of aging water main in Roxbury starting this month. The company will upgrade the aging 8-inch water lines, installed in the 1960s, with new, 12-inch ductile iron main along Toby drive from Parkview Drive to Holly Drive. The project also includes replacing four fire hydrants and 59 utility-owned service lines along the pipeline route.
Contractor, Montana Construction Inc. began work this month and expects to finish within approximately two and a half months, weather permitting.
The Camden-based utility says the investment will continue to advance water service reliability and increase water flows for household consumption and fire protection in this community. This improvement is part of New Jersey American Water’s multimillion-dollar initiative to accelerate the renewal of water infrastructure that has reached the end of its useful life in more than 100 communities across the state.
