New Jersey American Water is investing $290,000 to replace about 1,000 feet of aging water main in Bernardsville beginning next week.

The company will upgrade the aging water lines with larger, ductile iron main along Hillside Avenue from Mountain Avenue to Eastern Avenue, along Mountain Avenue from Hillside Avenue to Lakeview Drive, and Eastern Avenue from Lakeview Drive to Hillside Avenue.

The company says its investment will continue to advance water service reliability and increase water flows for household consumption and fire protection. This improvement is part of New Jersey American Water’s multimillion-dollar initiative to accelerate the renewal of water infrastructure that reached the end of its useful life in more than 100 communities in New Jersey.

New Jersey American Water’s local, qualified contractor, Vollers Construction, will begin work on or about Sept. 30, and expects to finish in approximately four weeks, weather permitting. Final street restorations will be completed in the spring of 2020.

Traffic restrictions and/or alternating traffic patterns are likely to occur during work hours. All emergency vehicles and local traffic will be allowed access during construction.
