Family law attorney Jeralyn Lawrence was installed as president of the New Jersey State Bar Association during the organization’s annual meeting between May 18 and 20 in Atlantic City.
Lawrence founded her Watchung firm Lawrence Law in 2019 after more than two decades at Norris McLaughlin in Bridgewater, and has since grown her firm to eight attorneys. She focuses her representation on individuals in divorce and family law cases in New Jersey. She also has an office in Red Bank.
Lawrence was elected president of the NJBA in June. She succeeds Domenick Carmagnola of Morristown firm Carmagnola & Ritardi LLC. Lawrence, a frequent speaker on matrimonial law issues throughout the state, is also president of the New Jersey Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
Alongside Lawrence, Timothy McGoughran of McGoughran & Sanvenero in Ocean was named president-elect; William Mergner Jr. of Leary Bride Mergner & Bongiovanni PA in Cedar Knolls was named first vice president; Christine Amalfe of Gibbons PC in Newark was named second vice president; Norberto Garcia of Blume Forte Fried Zerres & Molinari in Jersey City was named treasurer; and G. Glennon Troublefield of Carella Byrne Cecchi Olstein Brody & Agnello in Roseland was named secretary. Angela Scheck remains association’s executive director, a position she’s held since 2007.
