The largest medical dispensary on the East Coast opened in Bellmawr this week. The 6,150-square-foot Curaleaf facility has the capacity to serve more than 1,000 patients per day, according to Curaleaf NJ’s President George Schidlovsky. It has nine points of sale and four consultation rooms.
This is the first dispensary to open since Gov. Murphy expanded the medical marijuana program in March. The original Bellmawr dispensary, which is located across the street from Curaleaf and was previously one of only five medical marijuana dispensaries in the state, has been converted into a processing and cultivation facility.
“Previously, we had four Points of Sale and two consultation rooms, allowing us to serve 350 patients per day,” said Schidlovsky via email regarding the expansion. “We are happy to increase access to high grade medical cannabis products to all residents of N.J.”
According to a statement by Health Commissioner Dr. Shereef Elnahal last week, 100 new people are joining the state medical marijuana program daily. Schidlovsky told NJBIZ that recently, Curaleaf has seen 30-40 new patients per day, representing what he called a “significant uptick.”
“Curaleaf NJ will continue to provide the largest selection of medical cannabis products in the state at the most affordable prices, with the most efficient access,” he said.
Curaleaf is one of the nation’s most expansive medical dispensary chains, operating in New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland, Florida, Maine, and Pennsylvania.
The Bellmawr dispensary, located at 640 Creek Road, is the company’s largest. It employs 25 people and is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
