Newark-based mobile health care solutions firm merging with Minnesota company

A Newark-based mobile health care communications solutions provider is merging with a Minnesota-based mobile health startup, it announced Tuesday.Practice Unite will take on the Uniphy Health name, but remain headquartered in New Jersey under the merger of equals, the company said.

The merger will create a comprehensive communications and collaboration solutions provider, it added. Its cloud-based platform will address those needs for midsized and large health care firms, including HIPAA-compliant mobile-based solutions.

“Health care executives face a bewildering array of point solutions that do one or two things,” Adam Turinas, CEO of the former Practice Unite and now Uniphy Health, said in a prepared statement. “Our mission is more ambitious. Over the last four years, we have seen firsthand the power of creating virtual care networks of physicians, clinicians, home care aides and patients. These connected solutions have made a dramatic impact on our clients’ operations. They also put these organizations in a stronger position to transition to the new world of population health.”

The former Practice Unite has worked with Barnabas Health’s Jersey City Medical Center and Inspira Health Networks, among others.

“The combination of Practice Unite and Uniphy Health brings together two best-of-breed firms to create an organization that is transforming the health care industry,” Tom Wamberg, chairman of Uniphy Health and the combined company, said in a statement.
