Newmark Knight Frank (NKF) on Tuesday said it secured a lease in the burgeoning Journal Square neighborhood of Jersey City on behalf of owner GAIA Real Estate, and tenant, Chicago’s Pizza With a Twist.
The lease was negotiated by the NKF Senior Managing Director Glenn Beyer and Associate Director Robert Mackowski.
Located at 2 Journal Square, Chicago’s Pizza With a Twist leased 1,240 square feet of retail space on the ground level of the nine-floor, 325,000-square-foot building. There are currently four vacant spaces remaining with varying ranges of square feet in the repositioned Class A office building, which has both retail and restaurant opportunities.
“Gaia Real Estate’s continued investment in 2 Journal Square will continue to draw in a diverse pool of tenants in both the office and retail spaces that will support each other, with the retail offerings like Chicago’s Pizza with a Twist drawing in employees in the office spaces and those employees becoming patrons of the retail tenants,” said Mackowski. “We were thrilled to have supported both GAIA and Chicago’s Pizza With a Twist in negotiating this lease.”
The building is in a prime location near many new residential developments and the Journal Square PATH station, which has an annual ridership of more than six million.
In addition to Chicago’s Pizza With a Twist, other tenants at 2 Journal Square include Chase and BurgerIM. The building also includes a below-grade customer parking deck with more than 700 parking spaces.
“The building’s recent renovations and prime location will provide our business a steady flow of customers as well as a high-quality restaurant space,” said Virender Singh, franchisee for Chicago’s Pizza With a Twist. “We are excited to get the restaurant up and running and bringing this unique brand to the Journal Square neighborhood.”
