As part of New Jersey American Water’s multimillion-dollar initiative to accelerate the renewal of water infrastructure that has reached the end of its useful life in more than 100 communities across the state, the Camden-based utility said Wednesday it will replace approximately 2,100 feet of aging water main in New Providence beginning this week.
This $689,000 investment will continue to advance water service reliability and increase water flows for household consumption and fire protection in the community.
The company will upgrade the aging 6- and 8-inch water lines, installed in the 1950s, with new, 8-inch ductile iron main along Runnymede Parkway from Springfield Avenue to Ridgeview Avenue. The project also includes replacing three fire hydrants and 37 utility-owned service lines along the pipeline route.
New Jersey American Water’s contractor, CRJ Contracting, will begin work on or about Oct. 22 and expects to be completed within approximately two months.
