TeleBrands Corp. in Fairfield is donating $450,000 of Handväna HydroClean hand sanitizer to the New York City Police Department to help protect them from COVID-19.
TeleBrands, which is behind made-for-TV brands like the PedEgg, Pocket Hose and Star Shower, said it leveraged its supply chain expertise to quickly formulate, manufacture and distribute at least one bottle each to the more than 30,000 uniformed officers in the NYPD.
New York-based WHP Global, owner of the American menswear brand Joseph Abboud, organized the donation of 2,000 meals to the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. In conjunction with subscription meal kit service Marley Spoon, meal kits were delivered to RWJUH nurses, physicians, and EVS workers as they left their shift to return home to their families.
White Castle also donated meals to medical professionals, providing free sliders and combo meals to paramedics, nurses, doctors and other health care professionals throughout April and more than 10,000 sliders to hospital workers in nine markets, including in New Jersey.
INEOS (a global chemistry company) recently built two hand sanitizer facilities in under 10 days as a means to produce its product for donation across hospitals in the United States. The new facilities are in Jacksonville, near Little Rock Arkansas and Neville Island in Pennsylvania. Each will produce 1 million bottles of hand sanitizers each month, to help with the shortage.
The plant at Neville Island, Pa. (near Pittsburgh) will supply 52 hospitals across hard-hit New Jersey with hand sanitizer for health care workers on the front lines. Hospitals wishing to receive donations can also sign up online.
For New Jersey specifically, the donations were shipped to a central location for distribution to those most in need (as determined by the state), per their emergency management team contract for the New Jersey Hospital Association. Those hospital systems included Capital Health System, Hackensack Meridian Health, AtlantiCare Health System, Virtua Health System, Carepoint Health, Prime Healthcare, Jefferson Health New Jersey, Inspira Health Network, St. Joseph’s Health, Atlantic Health System and RWJBarnabas Health.
