Like most business leaders, Chris Sugden watched what was happening in March 2020 with trepidation. As the pandemic took hold in New Jersey and around the country, the only certainty was that the economy was in trouble — but just how extensive the damage would be was unclear. But after the initial shock Sugden, the managing partner of Princeton-based private equity and venture capital firm Edison Partners, saw that some companies were doing well. In the latest edition of NJBIZ Conversations, Editor Jeff Kanige spoke with Sugden about the state of the M&A market, the outlook for the rest of the year, and exactly which sectors have managed to prosper during the pandemic. “The good news is if you’re an innovator around supply chain, around healthcare, it’s really had an impact of accelerating some businesses that otherwise would have had to sort of get older industries to come along,” he said. “And all those older industries are moving fast too.” Watch the full interview here.
