Every day, millions of Americans reach for some sort of pain reliever. Usually, they end up taking a pill — either from a prescription or an over-the-counter remedy. But there is an alternative, one citizens of other countries have been using for years: topical analgesics. Perhaps the best-known such product is the Salonpas patch, which is made by Florham Park-based Hisamitsu America. In this edition of NJBIZ Conversations, NJBIZ Editor Jeff Kanige spoke with John Incledon, the company’s CEO. Incledon talked about the company’s forthcoming arthritis treatment, why topical analgesics are gaining favor with medical professionals and where the market is going. “We think that the potential is there to double the business within a three- or four- year time span,” he said. “By no means do I think the consumer is at a point where we’ve saturated the marketplace for topicals.” Watch the full interview here.
