In the middle of a deadly global pandemic, Michael Trombetta traded a career in financial services — stints at Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank and Bank of America Merrill Lynch, among others — to buy a business that provides building and facility services. Which means a lot of cleaning and disinfecting. In the latest edition of NJBIZ Conversations, the owner of City Wide Facility Solutions – Metropolitan New Jersey in Cedar Knolls tells Editor Jeff Kanige what it’s like to run a property servicing business during the age of COVID-19. “It’s been incredibly busy, which has been fantastic. And I’ve learned a hell of a lot. But, you know, I’ve been tracking this type of business for a long time and this type of industry has always been in the background very transactional, [but] once March came, everything got pushed to the forefront,” Trombetta says. “And I think a lot of companies fell to the wayside, because they didn’t have a strategy. They didn’t have leadership. They didn’t know how to educate people and they don’t know how to do project management.” Watch the full interview here.
