At the height of the pandemic, many — if not most — business owners experienced a dramatic falloff in revenue. Rachel Durkan and her firm Paradigm Marketing and Design, was no exception. But Durkan’s pain was really significant — 40% of her business vanished in a matter of days.
In the latest edition of NJBIZ Conversations, Editor Jeff Kanige spoke with Durkan about how she built Paradigm from a hobby to a full service firm, why it took such a big hit and how she managed to recover. “The first thing I did was learn. I started researching everything I could about historical data on recessions, how people interact, how companies interact,” she said. “One of the really interesting statistics I saw was that companies that market through recessions on average, show five and a half times more growth than companies that don’t. … My first thought was, we have to market through this, we have to double down.” To watch the full interview, click on the image below:
