With his Mercedes-Benz and Audi showrooms shut down, J. Agresta accelerated his push to embrace online sales. Car dealers haven’t traditionally resisted e-commerce, preferring instead to bring customers in and show them the sheet metal and let them get a whiff of that new car smell. Agresta, the president of Benzel-Busch Motor Car, says he had been moving toward the online model even before the COVID-19 restrictions were put in place, but moved more quickly after he had to close down.
