Unlike the other lists compiled by NJBIZ editors and writers, this one includes a lot of names that will be unfamiliar to many readers. But the names on these pages likely will be familiar to the leaders we recognize in our Power 50 and Power 100 features. These individuals have been working alongside the power players and are next up in the hierarchy of influential executives, managers, directors, public officials and academics.
As is evident in these profiles, the members of this next tier are well-positioned for the move up. They’ve demonstrated the energy, aptitude and talent to take over top positions in the most important businesses and institutions in New Jersey. Their own accomplishments speak for themselves and speak highly of their ability.
Those accomplishments also speak highly of the current crop of leaders. After all, those individuals served as mentors, coaches and educators for the next generation. And they’ll continue to do so, likely even after leaving the spotlight. That quality is part of what made them the leaders they are.
New Jersey faces myriad challenges – the continuing menace of COVID-19, an economy still recovering from a debilitating downturn and all the ordinary problems that confront densely populated states – and will need the combined maximum efforts of the most capable leaders in all facets of the political economy. But judging from the experience and expertise of everyone recognized by NJBIZ over the past 18 months, residents can be encouraged that the future is bright.
The individual profiles are listed in alphabetical order. As always, NJBIZ welcomes feedback, so let us know what you think of the choices reflected here.
