NJR unit builds 16 megawatts’ worth of solar installations

New Jersey Resources subsidiary NJR Clean Energy Ventures announced Friday that it has completed a pair of solar installations in the state. The 9.9 megawatt installation in Howell and the 6.1 megawatt system in North Hanover bring NJR Clean Energy Ventures’ commercial solar portfolio to a total of 19 installations and 72 megawatts of capacity, the company said in a news release.

“As electric generation in the U.S. continues to shift and evolve, clean energy, like solar, is an increasingly important part of the mix,” Laurence M. Downes, chairman and CEO of NJR, said in a prepared statement. “With solar projects, such as our grid-connected systems in Howell and North Hanover, we are bringing clean energy generation — and the benefits it provides — closer to home. That’s good for New Jersey and our energy future.”

The Wall-based company’s renewable energy unit invests in, owns and operates energy projects that generate clean power and provide low-carbon solutions.
