Ocean Power to send PowerBuoy back to the sea
Officials, company representatives gather for sendoff for buoy that generates power from waves.PenningtonÂs Ocean Power Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: OPTT) said Monday it planned to launch one of its PowerBuoys off the coast of Atlantic City. Local and state officials will also be on hand for the launch, set for Tuesday.
Ocean PowerÂs buoys use wave energy to generate electricity. The buoy is being returned to use after service and maintenance at the companyÂs headquarters.
Officials expected to attend the launch include Jeanne Fox, president of the stateÂs Board of Public Utilities; Caren Franzini, chief executive of the Economic Development Authority; Kathleen Coviello, director of technology and life sciences with the EDA; company representatives; and other local and state officials.
The PowerBuoy will be launched from the docks at GardnerÂs Basin in Atlantic City.
