Exceptional, trusted cancer care begins with RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, the state’s only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Together, our facilities offer the most advanced multidisciplinary, patient-centric, cancer care throughout the state, including cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment.
Our dynamic multidisciplinary teams of nationally renowned cancer specialists and researchers are at the forefront of cancer care and research providing patients access to innovative clinical trials, precision medicine, immunotherapy, sophisticated radiation therapy techniques and complex surgical procedures to treat the most common and most complicated and rare cancers. Together Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and RWJBarnabas Health continue to expand exceptional cancer care and research with the recent groundbreaking of the Jack and Sheryl Morris Cancer Center, the state’s first freestanding cancer hospital.
This 510,000-square-foot, 12-floor facility will house inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary services, as well as state-of-the-art laboratories where research faculty will make groundbreaking discoveries, provide hands on educational opportunities for students, and enable physician-scientists to translate scientific findings directly to patients.
Keeping the patient at the center of all we do is paramount to bringing exceptional cancer care to our patients. The Center will further propel RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey to the forefront of cancer discovery and care.
The Jack and Sheryl Morris Cancer Center will enable ease of access for imaging and other diagnostic tests, treatment and follow-up exams all in one space. The facility – which will be located adjacent to the existing Rutgers Cancer Institute building and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) – will include 96 beds for hospitalized patients, one floor exclusively for surgical procedures and spaces for inpatient support. It will also include services for outpatients, such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, mammography, urgent care and a pharmacy. Additionally, it will feature critical space to provide wellness and education programs and resources for patients as well as the community and offerings catered specifically to the needs of cancer survivors.

Libutti –
We know that a cancer diagnosis does not only impact the patient, but it also often affects the patient’s entire support network. Having the best possible therapies close to home makes the treatment experience—which can involve multiple modalities and be time intensive—easier on both the patient and his or her support team.
By providing inpatient care in conjunction with world-class treatment from top clinical professionals and unique patient amenities all in one footprint, we are enhancing the level of care for the patients we serve in New Jersey and beyond.
Through the RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Cancer Institute partnership patients have access to the state’s largest integrated cancer care network. Cancer specialists throughout the health system collaborate to devise an individualized treatment plan for each patient. That means that a patient being treated for cancer at any of the RWJBarnabas Health hospitals will have access to the treatment options and clinical expertise anywhere in the system, as well as at Rutgers Cancer Institute. The new Jack and Sheryl Morris Cancer Center will be integrated into our multidisciplinary cancer care paradigm across the entire RWJBarnabas Health system.
