ORBCOMM Inc. chose “a seasoned and trusted leader” for its newly created chief operating officer position, the Rochelle Park company announced June 23.
David Schmoock will take on the role of COO, overseeing day-to-day operations, including customer experience, supply chain management, business operations, project management and more.
The new hire will report to ORBCOMM CEO Marc Eisenberg, who said in a statement that the company is “excited to have him join our executive leadership team during this pivotal chapter for ORBCOMM as a private company.”

Schmoock brings more than 20 years of experience in the technology sector to the company, a global provider of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. At Dell, he served as president of North America Commercial Sales and at Lenovo was president of the North America business, with expertise in change management, operational efficiency, organizational design and cross-functional partnerships. Earlier in his career, he worked in sales and marketing at Xerox and also was a medical specialist in the U.S. Army.
Schmoock is a board member for Cognian Technologies, an Australian technology company, and is an executive in residence at North Carolina Central University Business School, where he established scholarship and mentoring programs. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Columbia University.
With more than 30 years of experience, ORBCOMM serves customers in the transportation, supply chain, heavy equipment, maritime, natural resources and government sectors.
