The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has cited a pair of companies over a December 2013 injury to a temporary worker at a Maplewood bottling plant.Maplewood Beverage Packers LLC and Elizabeth-based temp agency Corporate Resource Services Corp. were the subject of an OSHA investigation after the worker fell from a ladder. OSHA has proposed $182,270 in penalties for the “willful and repeat violations,” according to a news release.
Most of the penalties are aimed at Maplewood Beverage Packers, according to the release, with $171,270 proposed. Corporate Resource Services faces $11,000 in penalties.
“Host employers and staffing agencies are jointly responsible for ensuring worker safety and health,” Kris Hoffman, director of OSHA’s Parsippany Area Office, said in the release. “Employers must protect all workers from job hazards — both permanent and temporary workers.”
