Plainfield Mayor Adrian Mapp, members of the Plainfield City Council and Union County Freeholder Sergio Granados joined South Second Street Redevelopment, a partnership between J.G. Petrucci Co. Inc. and TD+Partners, to break ground on a new housing development for working families, The Station at Grant Avenue.
The residential community will revitalize a site, which has been vacant for over 30 years, with a five-story, 90-unit energy-efficient building that will offer one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments; a fitness facility; and on-site parking.
The residences will feature stone countertops, hardwood flooring, and Energy Star appliances including full-size washers and dryers.
The Station at Grant Avenue is the second phase of a $40 million mixed-use redevelopment project, the largest in the Fourth Ward of Plainfield in over 50 years.
The first phase of the project was the construction of a 44,000-square-foot facility for ABC Supply Co., a national wholesale supplier of building and construction products. Funding partners for the project include New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency, Chase and RBC Capital Markets.
