Bayer Properties’ Mid-Atlantic team said April 29 it is changing the game at Marlton Square with the announcement of Playa Bowls, New Jersey’s first acai bowls and smoothie shop, slated to join the Evesham Township community this summer.
Playa Bowls Marlton will be located in between Chico’s and MOD Pizza, and owned and operated by Joe Wallash, one of the top five performers for the franchise. The new tenant marks the first transaction of Bayer Properties’ reimagining of the 87,000-square-foot lifestyle center.
“Since taking over leasing and management of Marlton Square last summer, we have been hyper-focused on transforming this development into a community-centric lifestyle center, filled with best-in-class retailers and restaurants,” said Nikki Columbo, senior vice president of national accounts at Bayer. “As we begin the transformation of Marlton Square, we are confident Playa Bowls will be well-received by the Marlton community.”
Over the past six years, Playa Bowls has expanded its footprint nationwide, now totaling 104 operating locations across the country. Founded by Jersey Shore natives and avid surfers Abby Taylor and Robert Giuliani after visiting surf towns around the world, the Marlton Square location will become a staple in the South Jersey area.
“After growing with the Playa Bowls brand since its inception and opening several locations across the Northeast, I have a deep appreciation for the concept itself, but also the company’s dedication to the communities in which it serves,” said Wallash. “As we open this new location at Marlton Square, we are looking forward to providing an exciting, new offering within the development and ultimately establishing partnerships with local organizations to give back to the South Jersey community.”
In addition to bringing new retail and restaurant concepts to Marlton Square, the Mid-Atlantic team of the Birmingham-based commercial real estate firm plans to refresh the overall aesthetic of the shopping center through several forthcoming property changes.
“The vision has just begun,” said Columbo, “We are looking forward to bringing the Bayer Factor to Marlton Square, which will not only revamp the retail lineup, but also enhance the atmosphere of the destination altogether, encouraging our visitors to relax and stay awhile.”
Situated conveniently off Route 70 and Route 73 in the heart of Marlton, Marlton Square is located within the affluent Evesham Township of Burlington County. The lifestyle center offers a lineup of notable retailers and restaurants, including Trader Joe’s, Starbucks, Turning Point and Carlo’s Bakeshop, as seen on TLC. Bayer was awarded leasing and property management duties for the center last July, marking its expansion into New Jersey.
