Based in its administrative headquarters in Iselin, Robert Tharp joined Provident Bank as first vice president, retail sales & services director, the financial institution announced Dec. 14.
In the role, Tharp will be responsible for developing, executing and managing Provident’s overall retail sales and services strategy and business development plans.
He’ll also lead programming and structuring for Small Business Lending, Government Banking, Corporate Development and Provident Investment Services.

With more than 35 years of experience in retail banking and sales management, Tharp most recently served as a senior manager of the TD Bank Partnership at TD Ameritrade. According to Provident, he has also held senior leadership posts with TD Bank, TD Banknorth and Hudson United Bank.

And growing it is. In 2020, SB One Bank merged with Provident, creating the third-largest bank based in the state. In September 2021, the most recent information available, the bank reported total assets of $13.39 billion and total deposits of $10.84 billion.
