Bennett MacDougall joined The Provident Bank and Beacon Trust Co. as senior vice president and general counsel and Provident Financial Services Inc. as deputy general counsel the bank announced on Aug. 23.
MacDougall is responsible for overseeing all legal affairs of Provident and its subsidiaries and will provide advice to the executive leadership team on law and policy.
He joins the bank after serving for six years as chief legal officer of BNY Mellon Investment Adviser Inc. and the BNY Mellon family of funds, where he oversaw legal and regulatory matters involving BNY Mellon’s U.S. retail investment management business.
MacDougall was previously a director at Deutsche Bank, where he served as chief legal officer of DWS Investment Management Americas Inc.; before that, he was vice president at Morgan Stanley and an associate with international law firm Dechert LLP. He began his legal career at the Securities and Exchange Commission.
