Prudential Group Insurance announced changes within its personnel ranks on Monday.
Leston Welsh was promoted to head of Products for the Prudential Financial Inc. unit with Alice Cotti set to succeed him in the role of vice president, head of Disability Product.
Welsh, who joined the Newark-based company in May 2018, will be responsible for Prudential’s Group Life, Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance, Disability and Voluntary products, Prudential said. He came to Prudential from Unum where he most recently served as senior vice president and chief operation officer of Starmount Insurance Co.
Jim Gemus will also take on a new role as part of the leadership changes, as head of Financial Wellness and Business Segments including Prudential Benefit Funding and Associations, a newly created role.
Cotti will report to Welsh while he and Gemus will report to Prudential Group Insurance President Jamie Kalamarides. All positions are effective Aug. 5.
“These moves are part of Prudential Group Insurance’s long-term succession planning efforts,” Kalamarides said in a prepared statement. “Having Jim take on this new responsibility for coordinating across Prudential to bring our leading Financial Wellness thinking and capabilities to our customers and their beneficiaries reinforces the key role Financial Wellness plays not only in our Group Insurance strategy, but enterprise-wide across Prudential.
“The key drivers of our Group Insurance strategy remain unchanged,” he added.
