The title sponsor of one of the most prestigious tournaments on the LPGA Tour – the Mizuho Americas Open – announced Monday that the purse will jump from $2.75 million to $3 million for the 2024 event, which will once again be held at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City from May 13-19.
The inaugural event took place this spring at the world-class Jersey City course – bringing together a field of the top women golfers in the world while providing the opportunity for the top female junior golfers to compete alongside of them.
This year’s tournament also made history, as phenom Rose Zhang became the first non-Tour member to win their LPGA professional debut since 1951.
“The inaugural Mizuho Americas Open created a new standard of competition with its unique format, world-class golf course, charitable partnership, and extraordinary accommodation of the players,” said Shuji Matsuura, chairman and CEO, Mizuho Americas, the Americas arm of the one of the largest financial institutions in the world.
The $3 million purse will mark one of the largest non-Major Championship purses on the LPGA Tour — bringing the total purse for next season to a record $118 million.
“Increasing the purse is another step in raising the bar, as we look for new ways to further establish this tournament as a marquee event for players and fans,” Matsuura added.
