A job fair to help QualCare Inc. fill nearly 60 positions attracted a field of 650 candidates, the company said today.
“It was a surprising turnout,” said Yvonne Attalla, assistant vice president of human resources for QualCare, a Piscataway-based full-service managed care organization. “The most we have had in the past was about 200 people.”
QualCare, which currently employs 410, is looking to hire customer service advocates, client account executives, case management nurses, claims examiners, accountants, clerical support and health plan specialists. It wants to add new employees by early 2012, as the company is forecasting significant growth next year in its group health care plans.
“With the job market being what it is, people have been hearing consistently that health care is an area where there are more opportunities,” said Sharon Seitzman, chief operating officer. “We were pleased that so many of the candidates had the qualifications that we are looking for.”
Each candidate was given a screening interview on the spot with one of 25 company management personnel.
“That is very unusual at a job fair, but we were happy to do it,” Attalla said.
