Red Bank firm Giordano, Halleran & Ciesla has launched an energy, climate change and public utilities practice group.
Shareholder and energy attorney Steven Goldenberg chairs the group.
Goldenberg has helped in the development of various state clean energy programs including the Energy Master Plan and the Energy Resilience Bank, and has authored energy-related legislation.
He has experience litigating utility rate cases and merger proceedings, multibillion-dollar infrastructure proceedings and utility regulatory matters.
Goldenberg is joined in practice by fellow shareholders Michael Gross, Michael Bruno, Timothy DeHaut, Steven Gouin, Marc Policastro, and of counsel Steven Corodemus.
The practice group represents energy clients, such as New Jersey Large Energy Users Coalition and independent energy companies, before the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, the legislature and governor’s office.
“The creation of the practice comes at a crucial time as regulators and policy makers continue to address the challenges associated with utility regulation, the energy markets and global warming,” Goldenberg said in a statement. “The practice group will be actively involved in all energy initiatives of consequence, from offshore wind, the development of renewable and resilient energy projects and energy efficiency initiatives to regulatory proceedings that address utility issues, infrastructure development and the state’s evolving energy markets.”
Additionally, the group is working on the development and implementation of an energy infrastructure public-private partnership initiative as part of the state’s goal to enhance energy infrastructure liability post-Superstorm Sandy.
